We’re eager to connect with and support fellow adoptees and highlight adoptee-led efforts. Whether you’re just “coming out of the fog” and new to the adoptee community, or have been involved for a while, we want to support you in any way we can. A new adoption narrative.
When you listen to adoptees, it becomes clear how nuanced the adoptee experience is. But, the current, dominant adoption narrative is a one-size-fits-all narrative. It does not capture our diverse backgrounds and leaves little room for open and honest dialogs about grief, loss and trauma. Our mission is to rewrite the old narrative and replace it with one written and endorsed by adoptees.

There are countless blogs and websites aimed to support adoptive parents or those considering adoption. We created Rewriting Adoption to support adoptees. We are committed to amplifying adoptee voices to raise awareness about the adoptee experience and issues affecting our community.

Our main goal has always been to amplify adoptee voices and highlight our diverse experiences to rewrite a new adoption narrative. For too long adoptee voices have gone unheard. We want to change that, so we launched a new adoptee collaborative blog in the fall of 2021.
Meet the Creators
Hi there! 👋 We're Sarah and Rachel, two sisters and transracial, international adoptees from Peru. We started Rewriting Adoption after processing our adoptions more and finding the adoptee community.
